BIO Bill Passes Out Of House Committee, Picks Up Momentum

SPRINGFIELD – Today the Block Illegal Ownership and Fix The FOID (BIO) Bill passed out of the House Judiciary Committee, picking up critical momentum as advocates across Illinois push for its passage through the state legislature. Today’s news clears the way for the full House to pass the bill (HB 1091, Amendment 001) and send it to the Senate. Gun Violence Prevention PAC (G-PAC) Illinois released the following statement:

“We are pleased that the House Judiciary Committee heeded the call of parents and community leaders across Illinois and passed the BIO bill,” said Kathleen Sances, President of Gun Violence Prevention PAC Illinois. “The gun safety movement is picking up momentum at a critical time, and our statewide coalition of legislators, law enforcement officials, faith leaders, and gun violence survivors is already organizing for its passage through the House and Senate.”
