Assault weapons are designed to enact maximum destruction, making it easier for shooters to kill more people, more quickly. The availability of these lethal weapons turns all of our communities into potential war zones, and we must demand action to keep all of our neighborhoods across Illinois safe.
A vast majority of U.S. adults — 71 percent — want stronger gun laws, and more than two-thirds of Americans support a ban on assault rifles, up 20% from just four years ago. Governor JB Pritzker, 57 state representatives from both parties, and 17 state senators support it, too. Firearms are the leading cause of death for children in Illinois. We demand action NOW!

Subject: Ban Assault Weapons and Large Capacity Magazines
We cannot continue to allow people to be hunted down when there are clear solutions on the table to end gun violence like banning assault weapons and large capacity magazines.
It’s critical that our leaders such as yourself take these solutions seriously and do something as soon as possible. Our one job is to keep our children safe, and we are failing. Take action and secure a future for all our children, no matter what. Thank you.
