Halt the Assault

DIGITAL ACTIONS

Welcome to the Our One Job Coalition Halt the Assault #HTA Digital Day of Action!

Assault weapons are designed to enact maximum destruction, making it easier for shooters to kill more people, more quickly. The availability of these lethal weapons turns all of our communities into potential war zones, and we must demand action to keep all of our neighborhoods across Illinois safe.

A vast majority of U.S. adults — 71 percent — want stronger gun laws, and more than two-thirds of Americans support a ban on assault rifles, up 20% from just four years ago. Governor JB Pritzker, 57 state representatives from both parties, and 17 state senators support it, too. Firearms are the leading cause of death for children in Illinois. We demand action NOW!

How do we get this bill over the finish line and on the Governor’s desk? By making sure our elected officials hear from us! We are going to light up Springfield today! Join in as we collectively send in calls, emails and tweets to Springfield. During the 2 hour live facebook session, we will hear poems and songs from our survivor community to inspire us as we roll up our sleeves and work. Our gun safety lawmakers will be dropping into rally the advocates throughout the morning. Please use this schedule as a guide. If you are busy at these times, please complete all of the actions today at your convenience. Thank you for participating in the Halt the Assault Digital Day of Action.

It’s critical that our leaders such as yourself take these solutions seriously and do something as soon as possible. Our one job is to keep our children safe, and we are failing. Take action and secure a future for all our children, no matter what. Thank you.
