G-PAC ENDORSES ERIC RINEHART FOR LAKE COUNTY STATE’S ATTORNEY

CHICAGO – The Gun Violence Prevention PAC of Illinois (G-PAC) today announced its endorsement of Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart for re-election.

“We are proud to support Eric Rinehart and his track record of improving public safety and prosecuting gun crimes and gun violence in Lake County communities,” said Kathleen Sances, President and CEO of G-PAC, Illinois’ leading gun violence advocacy organization. “This November, gun safety is on the ballot. We must vote for strong leaders like Eric Rinehart to support our mission to protect Illinois children, families, and communities from the gun violence epidemic.”

Over the past three years, Rinehart has focused intently on combating gun crimes in Lake County. In 2022, he obtained $4 million in federal and state grants to build a Gun Violence Prevention Initiative to address the root causes of gun violence and to connect at-risk youth to mediators, services, and treatment. He has also worked to upgrade Lake County’s Cyber Lab, which uses advanced technology to unlock and retrieve evidence from digital devices. This improvement helps investigators, attorneys, and local law enforcement in prosecuting against violent crimes, including gun crimes.

“Gun violence can and must be stopped. I am honored to be endorsed by one of our country’s most respected and effective organizations in achieving legislative results and in changing the conversation around firearms,” Rinehart said. “G-PAC championed the Illinois Assault Weapon ban, and we are safer for it. Whether advocating for legislation like Karina’s Law, or investing in youth mentoring programs, G-PAC has been a leader in transformative change. Thank you, G-PAC. I look forward to the hard work of changing minds, improving laws, and saving lives together.”

Founded in 2013 by gun violence survivors, G-PAC is committed to ending the gun violence epidemic by supporting the passage of a responsible, common sense gun safety agenda focused on illegal guns and gun trafficking. Learn more about G-PAC: https://gpacillinois.com/.
