G-PAC RESPONDS TO APPELLATE JUDGE’S DECISION ON ILLINOIS ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN
CHICAGO – Today, the Gun Violence Prevention PAC (G-PAC) released the following statement from Kathleen Sances, CEO and President of G-PAC, in response to a federal judge’s decision to stay the recent ruling on the Illinois assault weapons ban after Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul requested to have an injunction lifted. “We thank Attorney General Kwame Raoul for moving swiftly to ensure that the Illinois assault weapons ban remains in effect. As our country continues to witness a slew of mass shootings, it is critical that common sense gun safety measures remain on the books to keep our communities and children safe. Although this fight to secure the existing assault weapons ban in our state remains far from over, this week’s decision is a necessary one that will save lives and take Illinois one step closer to making public safety a reality for all.”
G-PAC has the following experts available for media interviews regarding the ongoing court battles over the assault weapons ban:
- Kathleen Sances, CEO and President of G-PAC
- John Schmidt, a former U.S. Associate Attorney General and member of the Executive
Board of G-PAC
