Gun control in spotlight on first day of DNC in Chicago – Chicago Tribune
Chicago – Last week, G-PAC was honored to welcome to Chicago several national leaders in the gun violence prevention movement.
On the first day of the Democratic National Convention, we stood with former Congresswoman and national hero Gabby Giffords, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, and Congresswoman Robin Kelly, along with Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul and other state leaders who have also been instrumental in our fight against gun violence: Illinois Senators Robert Peters, Ram Villivalam, and Celina Villanueva, and Illinois Representatives Bob Morgan, Kam Buckner, and Maura Hirschauer.
We gathered during the DNC to rally around one of the most important issues this election: freedom from gun violence.
In Illinois, we have made tremendous progress in standing up to the gun lobby to pass significant common sense gun reforms to remove illegal weapons from our communities, crack down on gun trafficking, and ban assault weapons. But there is so much more work to be done.
This November, make no mistake – gun safety is on the ballot! With little more than two months to go till the election, we will be working harder than ever to elect gun safety champions up and down the ballot. Consider donating today to help power our movement: https://gpacillinois.com/donate/.
